We love Pieve di Teco. So much so, we want our friends to come join us. We’ve already convinced one couple we know to buy there (and they love it). Recently, we convinced another set of friends, Lucy and DJ, to break away from their busy Barcelona life and pop over to check out some real estate.
After much stress and angst and “Italian time”, they recently closed on a cute house with land in Acquetico, a village 5 minutes up the road. After officially becoming Italian homeowners, their first order of business was to come over and do a cleaning, get the utilities on, and figure out a remodeling game plan. But really, I think the real reason they came is I just wore them down with repeated suggestions of a visit while I was still in town.
To their credit, they did get a lot accomplished and felt better once dirt brought on by years of abandonment was removed their new place. I leant a hand in relocating the myriad of spiders from the ceilings to the great outdoors. I’m sure Lucy will be doing her own blog as she is a much better writer than I am, but it was super cool that DJ discovered a hidden, finished room in the ruin next door.
Despite the cleaning marathon, we still had some time to do village exploring including visiting the local church museum, which is stunningly beautiful.
And of course a trip to the Usato was not to be missed, where I scored a pair of chandeliers that I think will fit in our entry hall. €58 each with all the glass crystals intact.
