Encore!

When we first found our place we didn’t know the anything about Pieve di Teco. And in doing a little Googling, one of the initial bits of info that came up was that the town was home to Teatro Salvini – the smallest theater in Europe (just 99 seats). It was beautiful, full of history, and was the coolest of the many, many interesting cultural attractions Pieve di Teco featured.

And then COVID hit.

So before we could even get out there in person, the theater closed down and remained closed. We’d walk by the elaborately painted front, but couldn’t see inside and obviously couldn’t attend any performances.

But while we came to visit over Thanksgiving week, some of our expat friends that we had Thanksgiving dinner with told us about the re-opening of the theater. Count us in!

The day after T-day, we joined roughly 100 others to see the theater for the first time. The band Ars Populi played some really great music and the proceeds from the night went to a group fighting violence against women.

Sitting in the balcony, it was fun to imagine all the interesting acts, plays and performances that will be coming now that it’s reopened. We’re so excited it’s back.
