Put on a happy facade.

Progress, progress, progress! Not that demolition isn’t thrilling, but, well, you get it. It’s once the new stuff starts going up that we great really excited. First thing on the list: the facade.

This past week our builder has been hard at work removing the old stucco and getting down to bare stone in preparation for the new front and back of our palazzo. It’s crazy to think this is the first time these stones have seen daylight in at least a century, and likely much longer. If all goes to plan, by the end of the month we’ll have a beautiful facade ready for red(!) paint. We’re so excited.

Also making some progress (although not quite as much) is the roof. While it was removed a few weeks ago, materials for the new roof arrive just the other day. There’s supposed to be a renewed focus on getting that moving this coming week.

We’re still figuring out the timeline for the roof. We’re adding integrated solar panels surrounded by the roof tiles, so that should take some time. But once that’s done and the windows are in, we’ll have a water tight structure for the Fall/Winter and can turn our attention to the interior.
